The Britain’s Got Talent host and the other half to Ant and Dec has come to the end of his rehab stay, to overcome an addiction to prescription drugs and an ongoing battle with alcohol and substance abuse.
And since leaving the rehab facility, Ant has now spoken out about what happened – and thanked both his wife and co-host for their never-ending support after opening up to them about his addiction.
Ant, 41, told The Sun on Sunday: “Dec came around and he kind of knew it was at the point where I needed help.

“Once I admitted I was in a bad way, they then helped get a team together because obviously I wasn’t in a fit state to do it myself.
“We had an hour’s conversation then I packed my bag and I went.
“I’m lucky because I have the means to do that. But there are a lot of people who don’t. So I’m very grateful.”

Before leaving for rehab, he added: “Lisa and Dec gave me a bit of a send-off from mine. And they’ve been brilliant throughout.”
Speaking to The Sun, he revealed how depression led to addiction to prescription drugs, and an ongoing battle with alcohol and substance abuse.
Before heading to the facility, he said: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.

“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time. I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”
According to The Sun, he fought back the tears as he said to pal Declan Donnelly: “I need help, mate. I need help now.”
Ant has been battling his condition for over two years, after an operation on his knee left feeling in constant pain.

He would then self-medicate with drugs, which is where his issues began.
Responding to if he was told of the risks, Ant added: “Yeah. And the warnings are on the packet. I didn’t take them as seriously as I should have. And I drank with them, which was stupid and very reckless.
“I didn’t think how dangerous they are. You just think you know best — I’m in more pain, I’ll just whack another one down. That’s the danger — self-medicating.”
