The I’m A Celebrity favourite’s mother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer just three months ago.
She had kept the news of her death private, only revealing her tragic loss after laying the 88 year old to rest.
Taking to Twitter, the Countdown star shared a heartbreaking tribute with her 378k followers.

“Some days are tough, today was one of them,” the 56 year old wrote.
“Today was my amazing Mum’s funeral….. Rest In Peace Jean Vorderman. You will always be loved.”
Tributes poured in from fans on social media, as they rushed to comfort the star.

“So sorry to hear your news. I’m not sure anyone gets fully over losing someone close. Time just dulls the loss,” one said.
“Sending much love and hugs from Broughton & Chester. Look after yourself. Hope to see you soon xx,” another commented.
“So sorry to hear of your loss, condolences to you and your family,” a third replied.

Carol previously opened up about Jean’s illness on Mother’s Day, and described her as “beautiful”.
She wrote: “A precious Mother’s Day x This wk Mum & I found out she has terminal cancer. She’s 88,beautiful inside and out & I love her beyond measure x.”

Her mum had previously battled cancer three times in the past.
After her diagnosis, Carol revealed how she was coping with the news, telling the Mirror: “I love her beyond measure. We are laughing so much and she is having a lovely time. She refuses to let us be sad so we are taking our lead from her.”
“Now my family and me will concentrate on being happy and celebrating the time we have together,” Jean added. “I’m refusing to let them be sad.”
