Friday’s emotional episode saw Lee Carter hit rock bottom as he saw no other way out of his troubles.
For the past few months, viewers have seen the Queen Vic barman struggle to cope with his mounting debts and being bullied at work.
His ongoing battle with depression hasn’t helped with Lee continuing to believe he is not good enough for wife Whitney or his family.
And Friday’s episode saw the distraught Carter family member attempt to take his own life by jumping off a roof.

However, Lee was saved by parking attendant Karen Beckworth, played by Sally Rogers.
The kindly worker put in her all as she spoke to Lee and talked him into giving life other chance.
EastEnders viewers were clearly taken with Karen, with several viewers demanding that she be given a permanent role in the BBC soap.
Many also praised Sally’s acting in the episode, which saw several viewers left in tears.

If Sally’s face is familiar with viewers, it’s because she spent five years playing detective Jo masters in ITV drama The Bill.

Talking about the heartbreaking storyline, Danny-Boy, who is leaving the hit BBC soap, told Press Association: “Of course it is a lot of pressure but I think I’m more honoured than anything, because someone has to do it.
“I think it’s become such a common thing, not just people who suffer with mental illness, also people who don’t understand it and form a stigma around it.
“I think that kind of drive to abolish that stigma and to encourage people who are suffering to talk and to know that it is OK, the way that they are feeling…
