Sunday Brunch: Simon Rimmer is the latest star to sign up to Strictly Come Dancing [Channel 4]
Simon Rimmer is the seventh celebrity to be revealed as part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up, with the news confirmed on Sunday Brunch.
Hosts Simon and Tim Lovejoy teased the big news throughout the show, leaving viewers on Twitter guessing who it could be.
Many fans thought it could be their other guests Martine McCutcheon, EastEnders star Lee Ryan or The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue.
However, after leaving fans in anticipation, they finally announced the huge news towards the end of the show.

Speaking to his co-star, Simon said that he’d be “good at the Waltz. I’m more ballroom than latin.”
He added that he’s “never danced in my life on TV”, before going on to say he’d do his best on the show.
However, Tim didn’t do anything to alleviate his nerves and after presenting Simon with a tin of fake tan, he told him: “If you don’t win, you’re going to lose your place on the show.”
In a BBC statement about his place on the show, Simon said: “I am so excited, terrified and proud to be invited to be part of Strictly 2017.

“I’ve always been a HUUUUGE fan of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin.
“Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me. I can’t wait.”
Simon joins former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson, The Saturdays star Mollie King, EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami, Holby City actor Joseph McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles and This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford in competing for the glitterball this autumn.
All this week, famous faces have been being announced with singer Mollie King, who is following in the footsteps of bandmate Frankie Bridge, was the first to be revealed on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw.

More contestants will be announced over the coming weeks, with the celebrities having to wait until the launch show to find out their partners.
