On the episode of Good Morning Britain, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were talking to Andrew Gwynne and Mohammed Shafiq about the most recent London terror attack in which one person has died and ten people have been taken to hospital after a van drove into worshippers near Finsbury Park Mosque and the Muslim Welfare House.
As the two presenters spoke to the guests, Mohammed said during the conversation: “There are a number of media commentators, and with respect to Piers for example, he has really got to look at his language where we saw in the aftermath of the London attack.
“Just reflect on your language, I’m not saying no one should be saying what they’re saying, but lets just be calmer. Let’s look for language that brings people together.”
However, Piers was left enraged by this comment and retorted: “Hang on?! Let me stop you there.

“You’re going to accuse me of using defamatory language, all I have ever said, all I have said after these terrorist attacks are I think it’s incumbent on the wider Muslim communities to route out any extremism in their midst. This morning, after this attack on Muslims, I have used the exact same language in the exact same way to urge the communities with these white extremists who want to do harm to Muslims and treat them exactly the same way.”
To which Mohammed replied: “I’m glad to hear that Piers, I commend you for it all, I’m saying just look at your language. I’m saying that to everyone including myself.”
However, Piers wasn’t ready to let the accusation drop and asked: “What language?” to which the guest started talking about Katie Hopkins.
But before Mohammed could continue, Piers said: “Wait a minute, I’ve got nothing to do with Katie Hopkins – you said I had used language which you found offensive in relation to Islamic terror attacks, tell me what the language was?!”

To which the guest added: “I am saying we need to reflect on our language all of us, it would be great to get a sentence in before you interject.”
“Why don’t you stop talking nonsense,” Piers snapped back.
“I wish if you’re going to make defamatory statements about my language you could actually produce a single example of the language you’re talking about and not start spewing about other people. But anyway, let me move back, don’t say stuff you can’t back up.”
And as Mohammed tried to continue, Piers snapped: “Yeah, thank you.”
