Australia overwhelmingly voted yes to marriage equality, with the announcement sparking celebrations around the world.
Celebrities took to social media to share their joy at the news, and of course, Australian singer and international gay icon Kylie Minogue was one of the first voices to pledge her support.
“#Australia… #MarriageEquality [heart] Love is love, always was love, always will be love”, tweeted the pop star.

Miley Cyrus shared her own excitement: “Yes!!!!! Congrats Australia! Every step taken is one closer to World Peace! Love love love you! Proud to be Australian by association lol” tweeted the singer.
After responding to the singer’s tweet with some emotional emojis, British singer Sam Smith shared his own message.
“YES YES YES YES YES AUSTRALIA – YES!!!!!!!” read his tweet, followed by a string of crying face emojis and rainbows.

Pop star Lucy Spraggan shared a heartfelt message upon hearing the news, which began: “My wife is the most important person in my life. To have be treated equally is everything.
“Equality for everyone, everywhere. That is true love. It’s happening”, wrote the singer.
