The actress, who played Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars, is currently in the intensive care unit of an LA hospital.

But now her mother, Debbie Reynolds, has taken to Twitter to let fans know how the beloved star is doing since the horrific incident.

The 84 year old wrote to her 41k followers: “Carrie is in stable condition.

“If there is a change,we will share it. For all her fans & friends. I thank you for your prayers & good wishes.”

And fans were quick to comment on the heartwarming post with a sigh of relief.

One wrote: “Relieved to hear that. Everyone has been praying for her. This world needs her to stick around much, much longer xx.”

“Thanks for the update. She’s admired and loved! Best wishes to your family during this challenging time. She’s a fighter!” another added.

While a third wrote: “Thank you so much for tweeting us about her condition. We love her immensely and pray for her to get better.”

The Star Wars actress was reportedly on a flight from London to LA when she went into cardiac arrest.

According to TMZ, the plane landed in the US at midday, and paramedics rushed on board.

The 60 year old was then taken to a nearby hospital.

The website states she became ill 15 minutes before the plane landed, at LAX.

And recently, Carrie’s brother, Todd Fisher, spoke out about her current condition following the shock incident.

“She is in the intensive care unit, she is being well looked after,” he told ET.

“If everyone could just pray for her that would be good. 

“The doctors are doing their thing and we don’t want to bug them. We are waiting by patiently.”

Fans rushed to Twitter to wish the actress well after her hospitalisation.

One wrote: “Please 2016!.. Don’t take Carrie fisher we only so many amazing human left…I never pray but I’m praying so hard right now…” while another fan said: “Prayers for @carrieffisher. May the force be with you! Always!”

Star Trek legend William Shatner asked his followers to spend “special thoughts” to the actress.

In a message to his 2.4million followers, he wrote: “I ask everyone to stop for a moment and send special thoughts to @carrieffisher.”
