EastEnders fans baffled by 'odd' ending as soap appears to air final episode of 2016 three days early

As Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell had an emotional heart-to-heart ahead of their upcoming exits, the end credits were different to usual.

Also a sweet message played, with the names of all the cast and crew from this year rolling.

It read: “EastEnders was brought to you in 2016 by…”

There are still some episodes to go though, with the soap returning on Thursday 29th December.

Following this, there will be an episode on the 30th and this is the final episode of 2016.

With no episode airing on New Year’s Eve, there will be an hour-long episode on January 1st 2017 to bring in the new year.
