George Michael passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day in news that shocked the world.

Friends and fans paid tribute to the Careless Whisper singer, with his cause of death recently confirmed to be “inconclusive”.

Speaking on Loose Women today, Cheryl welled up as she shared fond memories of the star with panellists.

Getting emotional, the star revealed all about meeting him and even revealed he was a fan of her too.

She explained: “I was devastated, absolutely devastated.

“I was lucky enough to have met him and hear him tell me about the storylines I was in.

“He used to send me presents and signed gifts. To a fan from a fan, you just go: ‘Oh my gosh’.”

She praised the Faith singer, after it emerged he had secretly helped people in need, donating money to people without revealing his identity.

Cheryl admitted the moment was “bizarre” when she found out what had happened, 12 hours after the episode aired.

In the clip, Dot Branning found an old cassette tape as she cleared out the Launderette.

She played the clip, with Heather and pal Shirley Carter heard speaking on it about Christmas, a music playlist for Dot.

Cheryl explained: “This was just bizarre, I was doing panto but before I went back to EastEnders and made a small recording.
