The British magician died in March 2016, after a battle with brain cancer.

Now, 59-year-old Debbie McGee – who has previously sparked romance rumours with dance partner Giovanni Pernice – has made the heartbreaking confession that she “doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life alone” following his tragic passing. 

“I would hate to think I would spend the rest of my life on my own,” she exclusively told OK! Magazine. “But I don’t go looking for things.

“You have to let things come to you, and then they’re right. If you aim for something and you don’t get it, you feel let down.

“But you have to have goals, so I do have goal. I don’t want life to pass me by, but with relationships, or wherever anything like that is concerned, I always let things come to me. I don’t worry.”

Speaking about Paul’s passing, she added: “I knew I had two choices. I could spend the rest of my life missing that person and crying, and I understand why people do that.

“I’m not saying I haven’t had days where I’ve done that, because tried is a pain you need to get out.

“But I look around and see people who haven’t had the life I’ve lived, who never met somebody who loved them as much as Paul loved me. I was so lucky.”

It comes following rumours that Debbie and Giovanni Pernice might be more than just dance partners, following their sizzling routines on the popular BBC show.

However, Debbie has confirmed that despite what fans may think, there’s not much of a love affair to speak of after all.

“It’s absolutely great people think he fancies me,” she told the Daily Express. “We have a chemistry, a great sense of humour, we both make each other laugh and that has brought us together.

“We have a very special friendship. People see us dancing these sexy routines and then we are pictured having lunch together so assume something must be going on.”

“The truth is we really like each other but it isn’t a love affair,” she continued. “We love each other, but we are not in love with each other. It’s just one of those very special friendships.”
