EastEnders: Mick Carter leaves Linda following her cancer scare: Linda told Mick that she didn’t tell Mick because she didn’t know how he would react [BBC]
While it was good news for the family when Linda’s cancer scare turned out to be a bout of cystitis, Linda and Mick’s marriage began to break down as Danny Dyer’s character tried to comprehend why his wife had decided not to tell him what was happening.
“When I first found out, you weren’t even here. You were with Nancy and then it just ran away with me. And then things were so much better between us. I thought why spoil things,” Linda told her husband in a bid to make him understand.
However, Mick dismissed Linda’s explanation and recalled how she had managed to stop him from seeing her scars during their romantic holiday.
“All them afternoons when you were in bed on holiday and you wouldn’t take your top off, you didn’t want me to see your scars,” he stated.

Despite admitting that she was in the wrong for not being open with Mick, Linda confessed that she didn’t want to tell Mick because of the way he reacted to the news that Dean had raped her.
“I thought we moved past that. Why would you bring that up?”, Mick demanded to know.
“I din’t want to put that pressure on you. But my cancer wasn’t anything to do with you,” Linda shot back.
Realising that there were deeper issues in their relationship, the Queen Vic landlord declared: “What does it say about our marriage that you didn’t pick up the phone when you got that news? Hours we sat in therapy talking about how we need to be honest with each other.

“You know what hurts me the most? If it was me, you’d be the first person I’d call. You’re the one person I would want to hold my hand no matter how bad things were between us, in sickness and in health.”
“I should have told you. I know that and if I could go back and do it again, I’d tell you right from the start,” Linda realised.

But it was the fact that Linda stayed an extra two months after her mum’s recovery that caused Mick to walk into the bedroom and start packing a bag.
“My whole life, the people I’ve loved have lied to me. Babe, Silvie, Stan, mum. You’re the one person I never thought would,” Mick stated as he began to walk down the stairs to leave the pub.
